Car crashes into Joe Biden’s escort, First Lady and President unharmed

Published:

A car crashed into a parked vehicle near President Joe Biden’s motorcade on Sunday night as he was leaving his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. Biden and First Lady Jill Biden had just left his campaign offices when the incident occurred.

According to an AFP report, both President and Jill Biden were unharmed.

According to the White House press pool, Joe and Jill Biden were leaving the Biden-Harris 2024 offices in wet downtown Wilmington at 8:07 p.m. (0107 GMT) after having dinner with members of his re-election campaign.

According to the pool report, shortly after Biden answered to a reporter’s question, a silver automobile with Delaware license plates collided with what seemed to be a motorcade SUV sheltering the procession at the crossing across from the campaign offices.

According to the Associated Press, when the vehicle collided with the convoy, it attempted to drive into a closed-off intersection. The Secret Service and Biden’s team, on the other hand, encircled the car with firearms and ordered the driver to step out with his hands in the air.

Meanwhile, Biden was rushed into a waiting car and taken away from the downtown Wilmington office after a loud noise was heard caused by a sedan colliding into an SUV positioned in a nearby junction around 40 meters from Biden.

Joe and Jill were not in the vehicle in which the accident occurred. While the First Lady waited in a backup car, the president saw the situation and appeared stunned by the sight of the tragedy.

Reporters who had just finished questioning Biden were hastily gathered by staff to join the motorcade as it drove away.

“They’re evacuating, you guys gotta go,” a staffer said to reporters as security guards surrounded the area, according to AFP.

A photo of the individual who reportedly crashed into Biden’s motorcade in Delaware was subsequently released.

In 2022, an insignificant private jet unintentionally entered restricted airspace near the US President’s Delaware vacation house, forcing Joe and Jill Biden to evacuate for a short time.

According to the Secret Service, the jet was quickly escorted out of the restricted airspace after “mistakenly entering a secured area.”
