Former Prime Minister Imran Khan participation in the 2024 national elections rejected.

The Election Commission of Pakistan announced on Dec. 30, Saturday that it has rejected the nomination of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to participate in the 2024 national elections.
As the former Prime Minister Imran Khan navigated through his plethora of legal battles, his party – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) was described as a leaderless political entity by the Election Commission of Pakistan, in its updated political part list. The electoral watchdog released an updated roster which comprised of 175 officially registered political parties that will contest in the 2024 Pakistan General Elections, Geo News reported. The updated list no longer mentions Imran Khan, the founder of PTI as the head of the political party.
According to a Pakistani news outlet, the roaster now incorporates PTI’s faction Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTIP) as a separate political entity. The political faction was led by the Former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak.
The elimination of the name of the party leader happened after PTI lost its electoral symbol, the ”bat”, depicting the cricketing legacy of Khan. Earlier this week, the Pakistani electoral watchdog also declared PTI’s intra-party poll as null and void. After the ECP’s verdict, Gohar Ali Khan, who took over as PTI chairman after Imran Khan was removed from the office.
