TMC MLA Manoranjan Byapari Raises Concerns, Claims ‘Life Threat’ from Party Members – Urgent Alert

The Balagarh MLA asserted that until adequate security measures are guaranteed, he refuses to venture into his constituency.

West Bengal: Manoranjan Byapari, a prominent Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA and esteemed Dalit literature writer representing Balagarh, has come forward with shocking claims of facing life-threatening situations orchestrated by members within his own party. Byapari made startling allegations pointing fingers at two TMC associates, Zilla Parishad member Runa Khatun and her husband Arijit Das. He accused them of posing a grave danger to his life. The Balagarh MLA asserted that until adequate security measures are guaranteed, he refuses to venture into his constituency. However, Khatun and Das denied all the allegations.

Taking to social media, Byapari expressed his concern, citing the unethical activities rampant within his constituency, particularly highlighting illegal sand mining and irregularities in the public distribution system, allegedly involving a faction of TMC leaders. This isn’t the first instance when Byapari voiced his dissatisfaction with the TMC leadership. In a similar vein, back in June, he resigned from two party positions in protest against the party’s choice of candidates for the 2023 panchayat election.

Byapari elaborated on his stance, stating, “I joined TMC with the intent to serve the public, but certain local TMC leaders in Balagarh are spreading an environment of crime and corruption. When I raised objections, they resorted to threats against me.” Expressing fear for his safety, he said, “I am unable to visit my constituency without adequate security measures in place, fearing for my life. Furthermore, my party office was vandalised. I want to file an FIR and await the party’s response to take appropriate action.”

Speaking more on the vandalism of his office, the TMC MLA said, “I will never say anything against Mamata Banerjee. I raised my voice against those few small party workers who consider themselves big leaders and were misusing their power to do wrong. Now, they are angry because it has been stopped. My office was vandalised today, and we have filed an FIR against it. Let’s see what happens now.”
