Amit Shah Unveils Online Platform for Farmers to Sell Tur Dal; India’s Self-Reliance in Pulses Expected by December 2027

Atamnirbhar In Pulse Production: The Central Government has taken a big decision towards making India self-reliant in the production of pulses by December 2027. The government has launched a big scheme so that the farmers of the country can cultivate more arhar dal. Government agencies NAFED and NCCF have launched a web portal on which farmers producing arhar dal can register and sell arhar dal online at the minimum support price. Farmers will be paid for their produce directly into their bank accounts through DBT.

There will be no import of pulses from January 2028

Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has launched this web portal. Amit Shah said, India is not self-reliant in the production of pulses other than gram and moong. For the remaining pulses, India is dependent on imports. He said, importing pulses is not at all respectable for India. Amit Shah said that India will become self-reliant in the pulses sector before December 2027 and from January 2028, India will not import even a single kg of pulses.

Farmers will be able to sell arhar dal online

Launching the web portal, Amit Shah said that farmers will have to register on the web portals of NAFED and NCCF before cultivating pulses. After the production of the crop, farmers can sell their Arhal dal at MSP on the online portal. He told that farmers will be paid for their pulses through direct benefit transfer. Amit Shah said that if the price of pulses is more than the MSP, then the government will work out a formula to give higher price.

Government will buy pulses on MSP

The Home and Cooperation Minister said that farmers used to avoid sowing pulses due to not getting the price for their produce. He asked the farmers to definitely register on the web portal even if after producing the pulses they sell their produce in the market where they get higher prices. But it is the government’s guarantee that NAFED and NCCF will definitely buy their produce if the price is less than the MSP. Amit Shah said, the government is trying to make India self-reliant in the production of pigeon pea, urad and lentils.

Amit Shah said, with the launch of this web portal and India becoming self-reliant in the production of pulses, the common people of the country will be able to get pulses at cheaper prices. He told that the government is providing cheap pulses to the people through Bharat Dal.
