Due to this, the Indian Navy has now decided to increase surveillance of business routes.
Recently a merchant ship was attacked by a drone
Recently, MV Rouen was attacked by pirates about 700 nautical miles from the Indian border. Apart from this, MV Chem Pluto was attacked by Iran-backed robbers with the help of drones. Due to this the ship caught fire and was stopped. This ship was going to Saudi Arabia. These incidents had worried Indian businessmen. About 1 trillion dollars of essential commodities including rice, wheat, pulses, crude oil are traded through this sea route between India and the countries of the Middle East.
Task assigned to Navy’s destroyers and frigates
The Indian Navy issued a statement on Sunday saying that Navy destroyers and frigates have been deployed to increase surveillance. The Indian Navy will provide immediate assistance to merchant ships in case of any crisis. Apart from this, patrolling with long range aircraft will also be increased. Apart from this, the Coast Guard will also increase the security of India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
INS Kochi near Yemen, infamous for pirates deployed
The Indian Navy has entrusted the security of the Arabian Sea to 5 destroyers INS Kolkata, INS Kochi, INS Chennai, INS Visakhapatnam and INS Mormugao from its fleet. They were deployed at strategically important places. This deployment has been done in addition to the security of the US-backed organization. INS Kochi has been deployed near Yemen, which is notorious for piracy.
