Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra completes 1 month as Rahul Gandhi walks from Kanyakumari to Srinagar

The nationwide campaign by Congress to oust BJP under the banner of Bharat Jodo Yatra has completed a month after starting from the Southern tip of India, Kanyakumari on the 7th of September. The Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the poll-bound state of Karnataka on the 30th of September when the party’s national leader Rahul Gandhi entered the state via Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district bordering Kerala.

The Yatra will pass through Karnataka for 21 days covering 511 km in Karnataka. Earlier images of Rahul Gandhi delivering a speech despite heavy rain in Mysore had gone viral on the internet where he said that even rain cannot stop the Bharat Jodo Yatra in its effort to stop hatred and violence spread by RSS-BJP.

The Wayanad MP shared the video with a caption, “No one can stop us from uniting India. No one can stop us from raising the voice of India. No one can stop the Bharat Jodo Yatra from going from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. “

Rahul Gandhi flew to Madikeri where he stayed at a private resort along with his mother Sonia Gandhi for a two-day Dusshera break. The Yatra resumed on Thursday in the Mandya district of Karnataka during which Congress chief Sonia Gandhi too joined the Yatra. She reached Jakannahalli and joined the foot march that resumed from Pandavapura Taluk at 6.30 am and ended at Nagamangala Taluk by 7 pm. After this short walk, she got into a car and joined the march later.

This is her first public outing after a Covid infection earlier this year. She last participated in a roadshow in Varanasi in 2016 and has been compelled to avoid large roadshows and rallies due to health reasons. The Congress tweeted an image of Rahul Gandhi tying his mother’s shoelace with a caption: Maa, the same image again went viral on the internet with people lauding Rahul for his simplicity while others reminded him that such social media blitzkrieg never translates into votes.

As Sonia Gandhi joined the march, Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar said, “After Vijayadashami, there will be Vijaya in Karnataka. We are proud that Sonia Gandhi has come to walk on the streets of Karnataka. We are coming to power in the state, and BJP is on the way to shutting its shop.”

Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai downplayed the participation of Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi in the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, saying “she has walked for half a km and gone” and the same will have no impact on the electoral fortunes of the Congress in Karnataka. Rahul Gandhi’s social media blitzkrieg continued meanwhile as in yet another viral moment shared by the Congress on Twitter, Rahul Gandhi can be seen holding former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s hand and making him run with him.

In the video, a young leader Rahul Gandhi was seen suddenly holding hands with the 75-year-old Siddaramaiah and making him sprint along with him for a few seconds.
