MEGHALAYA: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Tuesday said that focused attention is being paid towards the development of North East States, which have suffered decades’ long neglect and deprivation.
“For the first time since independence, North East is witnessing an era of unprecedented and holistic development as per the aspirations of the people”, Chugh said in an interaction with the BJP functionaries and Karykartas here.
Tarun Chugh, along with Union Minister Jual Oraon and BJP’s National Secretary Rituraj Sinha arrived to campaign for Meghalaya’s ensuing assembly elections Chugh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wave is sweeping all across Meghalaya and exuded confidence about a big win for the BJP.
For the first time, the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting all the assembly seats in the state. This has generated enthusiasm among the voters and the Karykartas are reaching out to every single person in the State. Tarun Chugh referred to several visits paid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the years to have on-the-spot assessment of development taking place, saying this reflects his vision for the North East and desire to ensure equitable opportunities of progress for the people besides implementation of various schemes and programmes for the upliftment of the common masses. Tarun Chugh recalled the formation of a separate Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region that was formed in 2001 during the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Prime Minister. This was the time when the development of the entire region got immense fillip. Once known for unrest, the North East is witnessing a change under the leadership of Narendra Modi. The region is progressing on all fronts, he added.
