Indian Navy conducts bilateral exercises with UAE

New Delhi

Indian Navy ships INS Visakhapatnam and INS Trikand participated in a bilateral Naval Maritime Partnership exercise with the UAE Navy on Saturday. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability and synergy between the two navies by cross-training on tactics, techniques, and procedures while developing a strong professional bond.

The Indian Navy ships arrived at Port Rashid, Dubai on Tuesday (8 August). Rear Admiral McCarty called on Brigadier Abdullah Faraj Al Mhairabi, Deputy Commander of the UAE Naval Forces at the Abu Dhabi Naval Command, to enhance interaction between the two navies to address common challenges of piracy, smuggling, and human trafficking, enhance maritime security, and conduct joint humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

The Indian Navy’s Ambassador to UAE Sanjay Sudhir briefed him about the exercise’s scope and the road map for Navy-to-Navy cooperation between India and UAE. The presence of these two ships is indicative of India’s growing defence ties with the UAE guided by the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the countries.
