The Joe Biden administration is reopening several border crossings that were previously closed due to a record influx of migrants.

A senior U.S. official said the move was in response to the number of illegal immigrants dropping in recent days and freeing up personnel to man the legal crossings.

“Dropping,” as per a Reuters report, means from a high of around 11,000 in a single day to an average of 6,400 over the past week.

Rather than keeping the crossings closed and further maintaining a presence in combatting illegal entries, perhaps lowering the numbers even further, the Biden administration has opted to pull them back.

One official laughably described the temporary dip as migrant crossings having “historically dropped between Christmas and New Year’s Day.”

Illegal Border Crossings Dip Momentarily, So The Biden Admin Swings The Doors Back Open

Just to put this in proper context, the Biden administration has witnessed surging illegal immigration for weeks and months before they finally closed these border crossings last month.

In fact, reality suggests that they’ve watched and allowed the border to be overrun for years now.

Because there was a “historic” drop between Christmas and New Year’s, however – one week -, they’ve decided to reopen border crossings once again.

“We have seen over the last year periods of increased encounters and periods of decreased encounters,” the official said in a conference call with reporters. “We will continue to stand ready to respond to these kinds of surges.”

Karine Jean-Pierre: Biden Is Doing Everything He Can To Secure Border

The reopened border crossings are in Eagle Pass, Texas, which has a well-documented history of being invaded by illegal immigrants, as well as two locations in Arizona, where Governor Katie Hobbs (D) just accused President Biden’s administration of “refusing to do its job to secure our border and keep our communities safe.”

A fourth is located near San Diego, California.

The news comes as White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that President Biden has been working tirelessly to secure the southern border, only to be thwarted by Republicans.

Apparently, doing all that Biden can to protect the border means demanding that the Supreme Court allow Border Patrol agents to cut razor wire installed by Texas officials to prevent illegal crossings.

The administration argues that the wire impedes Border Patrol agents from reaching migrants as they cross the river and that federal immigration law should take precedence over Texas’ efforts to stem the flow of illegals into the country.

The Supreme Court should laugh the request off while also noting that President Biden hasn’t been interested in enforcing federal immigration law since the day he arrived at the White House.
