Ghana: Asantehene cracks down on chiefs over land fraud

This spate of destoolment, or deposing a chief from office, is serving as a deterrent for traditional leaders in the Ashanti region, says palace historian Osei Bonsu Safo Kantanka.

The chief of Abuontem in the Ashanti region, Nana Kwaku Duah III, was destooled by the ruler of the Asante, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in August after he was found guilty of the illegal sale of land by the royal court.
