Bahrain has recalled its ambassador to Israel and suspended economic ties with Tel Aviv, according to the country’s parliament. The Israeli ambassador had left Bahrain, and the kingdom has called back its ambassador from Israel.
The decision to recall the envoy and suspend economic relations is based on the kingdom’s “solid and historical stance” supporting the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The Council of Representatives has confirmed that the Israeli ambassador has left Bahrain, and the kingdom has decided to return the ambassador to Israel.
The Council is calling for more decisions and measures to preserve the lives of innocent people and civilians in Gaza and all Palestinian areas.
Bahrain’s National Communication Center has confirmed that the country’s priority is to protect civilian lives and secure humanitarian corridors for relief and medical aid to the Gaza Strip. The center emphasizes the need to prevent a new cycle of violence and work towards a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace that guarantees stability and security for all.
The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not issued a statement, but the story has been widely reported by news agencies, including Israeli ones. Bahrain signed the Abraham Accord with Israel and the UAE in September 2020.
