How will India benefit from this deal?
With this deal, jet engines will start being made in India. In such a situation, in the case of fighter jets, India’s dependence on other countries will be less. Along with this, the country will move forward in the direction of increasing air power through indigenous technology. Experts say that to counter China, India needs to rapidly increase its fighter jets. In such a situation, this deal will strengthen the Indian defence sector.
Before this deal, the White House had said that there would be some major defence deals including the co-production of jet engines in the historic summit between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden here. “The US-India defense partnership has been going from strength to strength for many years, but we have now entered the next generation of defense partnership,” a senior Biden administration official said hours before the meeting between the two leaders.
