Fuel Price Cut: After refusing to cut the prices of petrol and diesel, the opposition attacked the government, Kharge said
Petrol-Diesel Price Cut: In the last week of December 2023, the news came that Modi government can make a big cut in the prices of petrol and diesel after the fall in the prices of crude oil in the international market. However, in the new year on January 3, 2024, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri rejected any such possibility. He termed the news of price cut as a rumour. This statement of the Petroleum Minister has given the opposition a weapon to attack the government.
Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote in a post on social media X, ‘Crude oil prices are falling in the international market but there is no control on the looting of the Modi government.’ He further wrote, Modi ji’s ministers themselves are saying that there has been no discussion with the oil marketing companies regarding reducing the prices. According to Mallikarjun Kharge, crude oil has become cheaper by 31 percent in 19 months. Oil companies are making a profit of Rs 8 to Rs 10 per liter on selling one liter of petrol and Rs 3 to Rs 4 per liter on selling diesel, but despite this the government ministers are saying that the prices will not decrease.
