‘Pride of India and Titan of Business’: Ratan Tata awarded Australia’s highest civilian honour

Tata Sons’ Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata has been conferred with Australia’s highest civilian honour, the country’s High Commissioner to India Barry O’Farrell announced on Twitter. The Order of Australia (AO) award was presented for the industrialist’s efforts in strengthening the India-Australia bilateral relations.

The 85-year-old has batted for the 2022 India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reportedly employs the biggest Australian workforce of any Indian firm with about17,000 employees.

A few months ago, Ratan Tata was appointed as an Honorary Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia due his service to the Australia-India bilateral relationship He particularly worked in sectors of trade, investment, and philanthropy.

Ratan Tata has also received a couple of high ranking civilian awards in India. Ratan Tata has been awarded Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan which is the third and second highest civilian award of the Republic of India.

Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Barry O’Farrell, shared the images of the ceremony on Twitter and said Ratan Tata has made a significant impact on the island nation.

Tata Group’s former Chairman Ratan Tata is one of the most celebrated industrialists in India. His philanthropy and plans to cater the Indian market has always been appreciated by the citizens. Ratan Tata’s ideology and ethics have made him quite popular on social media platforms.

Known for his humility, Ratan Tata took charge as the chairman of the group in March 1991 and stepped down in 2012.
