Wipro Requests 25 Crore Rupees from Jatin Dalal, Challenges Court’s Decision for Arbitration in Legal Dispute

Jatin Broker Case: IT sector giant Wipro lost many of its top leadership executives to other companies in 2023. Same was the situation with Infosys also. The company lost many of its top officials to Cognizant. After this, both the companies also took legal action against their former officials. Wipro had filed a case against former CFO Jatin Dalal and former SVP Mohammad Haque. Wipro has demanded compensation of Rs 25.15 crore and 18 percent annual interest from the broker. The company’s former Chief Operating Officer Sanjeev Singh and former Ideas (iDEAS) business head Rajan Kohli have also left their jobs and become CEOs of companies like CMS IT Services and CitiusTech.

Employees cannot leave Wipro and join these 10 companies

Moneycontrol has obtained a copy of Wipro’s lawsuit against the broker. According to this, Wipro has made a list of 10 major IT companies. They are considered a direct competitor of Wipro. After leaving Wipro, employees cannot join jobs in these companies for 12 months. These include Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, DXC (formerly HP), HCL Tech, IBM, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Tech Mahindra.

Jatin Dalal has confidential information

According to Wipro, Jatin Dalal also had the names of these companies as per the non-compete clause. Still, his joining one of these companies is a matter of concern. An employee working in such a senior position has confidential information about the company’s policies and business.

Former CFO accused of violating non-compete clause

Wipro has opposed sending the case against Jatin Dalal to arbitration. The company said that he had violated the non-compete clause. Therefore the matter should be heard in the court. However, the court has sent the matter to arbitration. The broker was involved in Wipro’s acquisitions, policies and big deals worth $100 million. He was also on the investment committee of Wipro Ventures’ $300 million fund. It invests in startups. His last date of work was 30 November 2023.
