Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has been issued multiple summons by ED in an alleged money laundering probe linked to an illegal mining case.
Ranchi: Amid Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) summons to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, a family member alleged that Hemant Soren is being attacked because of his tribal identity. Soren’s sister Anjali Soren alleged on Sunday, January 7, that the summons are aimed at maligning the reputation of CM Hemant Soren.
Alleging a BJP hand in the ED summons to Soren, Anjali Soren said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) knows that if he continues, the saffron party would not get tribal votes in the upcoming elections, adding that the ED summons are being issued with an intention to harass the tribal CM of Jharkhand.
“On one side, we are being uplifted and on the other side we are being harassed. The Hemant Soren Government in Jharkhand is a tribal government. So, I would say that he is being harassed because he is tribal,” said Anjali Soren.
“The government fears that if the Hemant Soren government continues, they (BJP) won’t get tribal votes. So, they want to disrepute him somehow,” Anjali Soren added.

Upon being asked about Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren taking up the CM chair in case of husband’s arrest, Anjali Soren said, “If needed, she can become the CM. Our party has other members too, it will be decided in the legislative party meeting. I can’t tell you with confirmation but if needed, she will be.”
