Neeraj Chopra refers to Lionel Messi in a speech, says Messi is not ashamed when he speaks his native language

Olympic gold medallist and ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra recently made a speech which went viral and for all the right reasons. In the speech which looked to be for a function, Neeraj Chopra spoke about the importance of one’s regional and native language and told people that we should be proud of our languages and not hesitate in speaking it.

In the speech he said, “If your work is good, people will watch it even with subtitles. Just look at Lionel Messi, a world class player who only speaks his native language.” He said that even though people may not understand his language, people still do love watch his talks and speeches which he makes in his native language with subtitles running below. He adds, “Just like him there are many examples of people who don’t leave their native language and culture. When we recall Maharana Pratap, his heavy javelin always comes first to our minds. Similarly, my identity is also my javelin.” He also said, “we should be proud of our native language and not ashamed of it.”

Lionel Messi is an Argentine football star who currently plays for Inter Miami in the United States of America’s Major League Soccer (MLS). He recently won his 8th Balon d’Or which is an award given by France Football to the best player in the world of football of the year. He had just won the FIFA World Cup for Argentina in the year 2022, which was hosted in Qatar.

Neeraj Chopra is an ace Indian Javelin thrower who became a household name after he won a gold medal for India at the Olympics after a long time, after the feat by Abhinav Bindra in 2008. Since then Neeraj Chopra has went on to represent India at multiple top tier competitions where he has won multiple accolades at the global stage.
