Among Us, the immensely popular multiplayer game, is set to make its way to television screens with an upcoming animated series. CBS Studios is leading the project, with Owen Dennis, the creator of Infinity Train, taking the helm.
The news of the Among Us show was reported by Variety. The animated series will stay true to the game’s concept, featuring crewmates on a spaceship working together to identify the Impostor among them, while the Impostor attempts to create chaos and eliminate the crewmates one by one. Innersloth, the studio behind Among Us, has partnered with CBS Eye Animation Productions to assist in the production of the show.
Although it was released in 2018, Among Us gained tremendous popularity in 2020, largely attributed to the influence of streamers and content creators who showcased the game to a massive audience. Its success also inspired the emergence of various social deception games in recent years. Among Us has expanded to different platforms and even introduced a VR version, and now it is taking the next step by being adapted for television.
As of now, no network or streaming service is attached to the Among Us animated series despite its being in development at CBS Studios but that news is expected at a later date. But with talent like Owen Dennis involved, who also worked on Regular Show as a writer and storyboard artist, It seems the show is in good hands.
Among Us, like numerous other well-known video games, is joining the ranks of those receiving adaptations for movies and television. While details about the specific progress of these adaptations are still emerging, it’s exciting to see the game’s immersive world expanding beyond the digital realm.
