Nawaz Sharif can contest elections

The Pakistan government has lifted the life ban on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the largest party in the ruling coalition, from contesting elections. Nawaz’s younger brother Shahbaz Sharif is currently the Prime Minister of Pakistan and is trying to bring Nawaz back to the politics of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarad said that the ban on Nawaz Sharif has been abolished by amending the electoral law. Tarad told that it is not possible to hold general elections in the present condition of Pakistan. However, the National Assembly, the lower house of Pakistan’s parliament, will be dissolved on August 13 as scheduled. After this, a protectorate government will be formed. On the other hand, regarding the change in the election law, Tarad said, everyone will get its benefit.
