Pakistan’s Supreme Court has set August 23 as the hearing date for the hearing of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman in the Toshakhana case, following an appeal by former Prime Minister Imran Khan against his conviction.

The three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi, and Justice Jamal Mandokhel, will hear the petitions. The decision of the Islamabad High Court was challenged by the PTI chairman on August 3, prompting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the verdict.

The Pakistan District and Sessions Court sentenced PTI chairman Imran Khan to three years in prison in the Toshakhana case and disqualified him from politics for five years. Khan was arrested from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore shortly after his conviction and fined 100,000 Pakistani rupees. Khan expressed disappointment over his imprisonment and said he would hide inside a prison cell under “disturbing” circumstances.
